Royal Polaris Report Sunday Feb 19, 2012

20 Feb 2012
Today the tuna did a total about face with their feeding habits. By 4 A.M. we are all red eyed, half asleep, and ready for the early bite. We could have slept in! There was virtually nothing going on with one or two insignificant tuna landed. Wahoo on the other hand, were ravenous today. Maybe it was the incredibly good wahoo steaks we had for dinner last night that inspired us to try extra hard for them, but for the day we wound up with 56, a big number for any trip. A lot were on the small side, but some [Read more]

Royal Star report 2-9-2012

10 Feb 2012
We started out alright this morning with fair scratching on 40-60lbers with a bonus 210 thrown in. After 0900 it was memories of yesterday though with only a few handfulls of wahoo to show for the afternoon's efforts. It is quite perplexing where all that better grade fish from last trip got off to because it certainly isn't here right now, timing is everything in fishing. We will be traveling tonight to look at the bank tomorrow. The morning was pretty slow for us with very little sign around, but the afternoon gave up some scratch fishing on Tuna in the 70-120 lb. range along with a couple dozen Wahoo. Conditions are pretty good, just not much big fish sign around, although we did hook into one Tuna that looked like the real deal, but it swam away after earning it's [Read more]
