Albacore Update

First Albacore of the season hits the deck

The American Angler caught 2 Albacore today, the first of the season.  239 miles from San Diego, first reports are claiming one jig fish and a following fish on a bait.  17-18# fish.  Weather was reported as unpleasant. [Read more]

Fresh Load of Squid in Newport

San Pedro Bait delivered a fresh load of live squid this morning.  They also have Anchovies and Sardines available.  Increasing reports of White Sea Bass and Thresher Sharks along the coast.  The Yellowtail also bit good today at the Coronado Islands.  Lots of bait around and better water temps than we saw the entire season last year.  Enjoy the Memorial Day weekend and get out on the water. Thresher Sharks make appearance off Newport

Thresher Sharks made an appearance off Newport toward Newport canyon and into the Newport Pier.  The long tails were seen early Monday morning up pushing bait around.  Some short Barracuda have been caught in the harbor entrance by anglers catching mackerel to slow troll.  Windy sloppy conditions havent exactly been friendly, but our season is showing signs of getting started. Improving weather conditions will allow us to get off the beach and have a look around.  Several clients headed offshore the next few days.  Conditions are prime at Catalina for the Sea Bass to chew.  The Limitless is headed to San Clemente Island for the weekend.  Break in the new motors and have a look in the cove for Yellowtail and Sea Bass.
