Tough fishing on Monday the 28th, windy conditions hampered the fishing.  32 Yellowfin and 17 Wahoo were boated.  5 of the YFT were over the 100# mark with the largest going 170.  Good sign of fish, just not biting full speed. [Read more]

Long Range Report for 12-1-2011

01 Dec 2011
Getting a few sketchy reports from the long range fleet fishing the lower Baja coast, offshore banks, Clarion Buffer Zone and the Hurricane bank.  Satellite reception has been inconsistent, but we have a pretty good idea of what is happening.  The boats fishing the Hurricane have had good sign of fish, but no real ripper days until today when the Royal Polaris boated 58 Yellowfin Tuna between 100 - 190#'s.  The Royal Star is fishing the Clarion zone and has had decent fishing for fish in the 70-130# [Read more]

Fishing the Rail for Large Yellowfin Tuna

08 Dec 2011
There is a good article in this weeks Western Outdoor News by Brandon Hayward on the latest long range cow tuna fishing techniques.  He covers the recent trend of using shorter fluorocarbon top shots, and covers some of the latest rail rod models. Tommy Rothery on the Polaris Supreme is winding up his latest trip and he mentioned the success of his guys moving to a shorter 25' shot too. Give us a call, email or drop by the shop if you have any questions about the gear. [Read more]

Cabo San Lucas Report 12-8

08 Dec 2011
Captain Jesse Henry reports good to excellent tuna fishing on the spotted porpoise on the Pacific side near the Golden Gate bank, they have had good action on fish in the mid 100# class and a couple in the low 200# category.  He also said the Striped Marlin are filling in nicely too.  Most of the tunas are coming on the Yummee artifical flying fish rigged under a kite and trolled.  They had some good striper fishing on the ballyhoo rigged dredge.
